Introducing the red and white Kufiya (Keffiyeh) - A symbol of Palestine's resistance.
The traditional red and white Kufiya was once primarily worn by Bedouins in the North Arabian Desert of Palestine and Jordan. Later, this Kufiya gained prominence as a symbol of resistance, widely adopted by Palestinians in their struggle for freedom. Today, the red and white Kufiya remains cherished by Palestinians and activists worldwide. Often recognised as the "Jordanian" Kufiya, it is seen as a beloved counterpart to the iconic Palestinian black and white pattern.
This iconic Kufiya is deeply rooted in Palestinian heritage. Originally worn by the rural farmers, it grew in popularity and became a potent symbol of the Palestinian Resistance, representing unity, strength and a deep-rooted connection to the land.
Crafted with the utmost care, each Kufiya headdress is handmade using a specific cross-stitching technique developed over decades. Only a selected few artisans still know these time-honoured techniques that have been refined through multiple generations.
The Hirbawi factory in Hebron, West Bank Palestine, is the last and only Kufiya manufacturer in Palestine. Its artisans have woven the authentic Kufiya since 1961. They promote local and ethical Palestinian trade in a step towards the self-determination and liberation of Palestinian People.
The Hirbawi Factory continues its struggle to keep the factory going. In the words of Yasser Hirbawi (founder), "We will continue. This is the fruit of 50 years of continuous work - it's more than a business. We will remain competitve by continuing to produce the best quality Kufiya".
By purchasing an authentic Hirbawi Kufiya from us, not only will you be contributing in keeping the factory running but you will also be aiding our palestinian brothers and sisters in need.
